Del's Mad Rituals

When: Thursdays. Continues through March 28 2013

Del Close, the late, legendary cofounder of ImprovOlympic (now iO), devised a type of long-form group improvisations he called "mad rituals." In honor of what would have been Close's 79th birthday this month, his partner, Charna Halpern, revives those rituals in the form of weekly performances by iO students. The group works well together and the improv is seamless and funny, only occasionally lapsing into the nonsensical. It's probably not worth going out of your way for, but if you've got an extra five bucks and happen to be in Wrigleyville, it's better than most other unscripted entertainment you'll find on Clark Street. —Aimee Levitt
