Delta Spirit, Waters 18+ Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Soundboard

When: Fri., March 23, 9 p.m. 2012

The dream of the 90s is alive in Waters—or at least the part of the dream where there's a guy earnestly singing the postadolescent what-does-it-all-mean blues over noisy but tuneful guitar rock. Waters is the latest effort by former Port O'Brien front man Van Pierszalowski, and last year it released an album, Out in the Light (City Slang), that reminds me of the bands you may have once seen doing four days as support on an Archers of Loaf tour who no one really knew but who could surprise you by being a couple notches weirder and more tuneful than the average indie-dude outfit. See their cover of EMA's anthemic "California" for proof. —Miles Raymer Delta Spirit headline; Waters open.
