To the editors:

I have not read a more insensitive, divisive and inflammatory article than your "Buy American, Burn Asian" one [Hot Type, May 15] since World War II. For those of us who were old enough to remember, it brings back nightmares of the type of yellow journalism which eventually resulted in the evacuation and internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans in 1942.

In addition, the paragraph regarding Koreans and self-pitying wastrels of the inner city serves only to exacerbate what is already a tense situation between the Korean business people and the African American community.

Whatever your intentions, as an editor of a much read newspaper, you owe your readers a more responsible attitude.
