The Chicago Latino Theater Alliance (CLATA) hosts a live, but socially distanced, celebration of Latino theater, music, and culture, drive-in style, in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15). The event, produced in collaboration with the National Museum of Mexican Art, International Latino Cultural Center, and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, features performances, messages, and "live vignettes" from local Latinx companies, including Aguijón Theater, Repertorio Latino Theater Company, Teatro Vista, and UrbanTheater Company. Cielito Lindo Family Folk Music performs live, and WGN-TV Around Town reporter Ana Belaval and comedian/producer Mike Oquendo serve as emcees. There will also be a screening of the 2018 film American Curious (directed by Gabylu Lara), in which Chicago-based comedian David Green finds out that the Mexican mother he never knew has died and left him a restaurant in Mexico City, sending him on a journey to explore his past and his heritage.
