Dick Herron Memorial Bike and Walk Free

When: Sun., Oct. 19 2008

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation pays tribute to Dick Herron, a cyclist killed by a reckless driver in 2004, with this fourth annual event meant to raise funds to promote safe driving and teach at-risk kids bicycle mechanics. The ride runs 15 miles, from the North Avenue pedestrian bridge along the lakefront bike path to Soldier Field and back; the walk covers a five-mile stretch of Lincoln Park. Donations to the Dick Herron Memorial Fund can be made at biketraffic.org/herron.
