Do Something Reel Film Festival

Presented by the Gene Siskel Film Center and Whole Foods Market, this weeklong festival collects six documentaries that focus on health and environment. Michael Graziano and Ernie Park's LUNCH LINE examines how school-lunch programs have become politicized over the past six decades (Fri 4/22, 6 PM). Mark Macinnis's URBAN ROOTS chronicles how a goat farm sprang up amid the economic desolation of Detroit (Sat 4/23, 5 PM). George Langworthy and Maryam Henein's VANISHING OF THE BEES, narrated by Ellen Page, explores the agricultural crisis known as colony collapse disorder (Sun 4/24, 3 PM). Shelley Lee Davies and Or Shlomi's PLANEAT studies new frontiers in vegetarianism (Mon 4/25, 6 PM). Francine Cavanaugh and Adams Woods's ON COAL RIVER documents a West Virginia community's battle against the mining of coal through mountaintop removal (Wed 4/27, 6 PM). And Suzan Beraza's BAG IT reports on the disastrous proliferation of plastic bags and other plastic waste (Thu 4/28, 6 PM).  Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N.
