Good dance-music producers and DJs tend to fall into one of two categories: those who set up a groove and ride it till everyone on the floor collapses from exhaustion, and those who toss so many curveballs that half the fun comes from wondering what they'll throw down next. As Dubbel Dutch, Austin-based Marc Glasser is the latter type. In his remixes and original compositions alike (both of which have received enthusiastic nods from blogs such as Dutty Artz and Palms Out Sounds) he seems focused on finding interesting ways to stack up unexpected combinations of leading-edge styles—soca, kuduro, dancehall, Baltimore house, revivalist jungle—at a rate of one every 16 bars or so. In other words he keeps you on your toes. —Miles Raymer Whoa-B, Sparkletone, and Kyle Stewart open.
