To the editors:
The sensationalizing of AIDS is nothing new; the far right in this country has spread fear and panic about the spread of AIDS. But the Reader has carried it to new extremes with the headline in the October 4 issue ["Everything You Know About AIDS Is Wrong"].
We need to educate the public about AIDS, but your article only confused and obfuscated an already murky picture. Scientific research is never easy and direct. Dr. Duesberg is using old facts and figures to state his case.
Why does the Reader dig up this tired diatribe? We need answers not controversy, facts not sensationalism.
