Egos, Subconsciouses, and People That Think, Because They Think, They Exist The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays. Continues through July 17 2015

There's a special reverence for dark absurdity at Annoyance Theatre. The company has a pronounced knack for wresting offbeat, truly one-of-a-kind jokes out of irreverent material. But the abstract premises in this hour-long two-person show are about as meandering and convoluted as its title; gross-out videos of things like hair tweezing and unfunny 4chan-style Internet memes provide transitions for sketches around the general theme of neuroses. It's more performance art than comedy—a few wacky voices are tossed in for good measure, but bits drag on in a way that makes them seem deliberately not to be laughed at or, at times, even comprehended. —Dan Jakes
