House Theatre of Chicago's latest production is more intimate, less whiz-bang than its usual fare. Ben Lobpries's new work about a pregnant woman who enters her own dreams is part heart-wrenching contemporary dance, part Buffy the Vampire Slayer-style supernatural adventure (the ghost of Joan of Arc fights off demons), and part country-gothic love story complete with five-piece bluegrass band. The dance sections, by choreographer Tommy Rapley, are simply astonishing, the actors revealing emotions too primal for words. The performers seem lost, however, when they have to deliver dialogue, and the production as a whole never catches fire. Through 4/26: Mon-Wed 7:30 PM, Storefront Theater, Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph, 312-742-8497, $15.
