Mark Perlman creates bold encaustic works full of expression and texture. These ambitious paintings also nod to classical forms of painting in their use of Chiaroscuro. Also on view: Chicagoan Susan Kraut has taught painting at the School of the Art Institute for 25 years. As a champion of observation-based painting, she has become a fixture on the Chicago scene. In these new works, she directs our focus to both still life imagery AND Landscape imagery - all in the same paintings, making the work both intimate and expansive, and always emotionally connected.
