EXHIBIT OPENING: A Celebration of Chicago’s Jewish History

When: Sun., Sept. 19, 2 p.m. 2010

The Maxwell St. Junior Klezmer Orchestra kicks off Spertus’ multi-year celebration of Chicago’s Jewish history. Enjoy the group’s enthusiastic performance of traditional instrumental and vocal klemzer music as you explore rarely seen objects from the Spertus collection, hear from the curator of a new Chicago Jewish history exhibit, and discover stories from the first chapter of Jewish life in the Windy City. The Maxwell St. Junior Klezmer Orchestra was founded in 1994. Talented young musicians rehearse twice a month with members of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band. Founder Lori Lippitz will serve as MC for this performance. No reservations required.
