Extinction Fantasies The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through July 18 2010

Tympanic Theatre Company artistic director Daniel Caffrey wrote this 80-minute suite of plays about the survivors of a plague that has all but wiped out a small rural community. One vignette concerns a teenage boy and girl, another focuses on a bickering married couple, and two short sketches depict a father and daughter gradually succumbing to the deadly disease. The playlets generally steer clear of predictable histrionics, and the well-acted, starkly lit production achieves a tone of earnest gravity enhanced by the distant sounds of gunfire and bird cries. --Albert Williams
