FamilyFarmed Expo

When: Sat., March 13, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 2010

The FamilyFarmed Expo, now in its fifth year, features a CSA pavilion where attendees can learn about community-supported agriculture; exhibitors selling and sampling food, alcohol, soap, wool, and more; and a kids' corner with arts and crafts, story time, an explanation of how to read labels, and face painting. There are also cooking demos by Rick Bayless, Paul Virant, Paul Kahan, Jo Kaucher, and Gale Gand, and workshops on subjects including raising chickens in your backyard, preserving food, and using the whole animal in cooking (the last moderated by the Reader's Mike Sula).

Price: $20, $15 in advance, kids under 13 free
