Father Figures | Chicago Reader

Father Figures

Two middle-aged twin brothers—one an uptight doctor (Ed Helms), the other a laid-back ne’er-do-well (Owen Wilson)—hit the road in search of the father they never knew, tracking down every man their mother (Glenn Close) slept with in 1975 in hope of finding the one who impregnated her. Wilson’s ingratiating performance sets the tone for this lightweight comic road movie, which is unhurried and eager to please. Most of the characters are live-action cartoons, though all of them are treated sympathetically. Lawrence Sher directed; with J.K. Simmons, Terry Bradshaw, and Katt Williams.
