At the same time that Link Wray was recording his classic sides for Swan, he was playing nightly gigs in a bar where switchblades and flying bricks came with the territory—and that knife-edge vibe infused his music with a savage brilliance. Feedtime (aka "feedtime"), a trio from Sydney, Australia, spent much of the 80s gigging in dives frequented by bikers and skinheads looking for fights, and the violence around them did something similar for their output. Their four albums from that era, which have just been reissued as a box set called The Aberrant Years (Sub Pop), stand at the crossroads of country blues and punk rock—imagine if Wire had met in shop class instead of art school and loved Blind Willie Johnson as much as Eno. Feedtime played a reunion gig in San Francisco in May 2011, at which point they'd been dormant since the mid-90s; their current U.S. tour is their first. —Bill Meyer Nones and Relay Beken open.
