Many of these eight videos by Chicagoan Eric Fensler gently evoke the pointlessness of modern life. The aptly titled Ten Images (2002) is an affectless series of scenes—a patch of sky divided by phone lines, a kids' football game—with no apparent connections between them. Blind Date (2004) nicely evokes office culture through doughnut eating, silly games, and institutional decor. I especially liked 25 G.I. JOE P.S.A.'S (2003), a series of animated public service announcements dubbed and reedited into suggestive parodies or deadpan absurdities: in one, an Indian extinguishing a fire on a boy's shorts spends way too long rubbing him. Also showing are three short music videos, including one for the band TRS-80, which will perform after the screening, as will Graham Smith of Kleenex Girl Wonder. 72 min.
