Fifty Words Recommended Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 26 2011

With their nine-year-old son out of the house for his first sleepover, middle-class Brooklynites Jan and Adam have the rare chance to spend a night alone together. Only things haven't been going well in the marriage lately, and their romantic evening quickly devolves into a knock-down, drag-out brawl. Lord knows there's nothing new about married people yelling at each other, but Michael Weller's merciless two-hander captures in precise detail how it feels to be up at 3 AM, fighting with the one person who knows where all your sore spots are. As the combatants in Joe Jahraus's fierce production, Darrell Cox and Katherine Keberlein convey such a complex mix of savagery and vulnerability that choosing sides becomes impossible. --Zac Thompson
