Fisting: A Period Piece The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays. Continues through Sept. 2 2010

In the Irish town of Dingle, Little Dicky Diddler--the son of a baker famous for her dill dough--falls in star-crossed love with Jizabel Sarker, whose father, Cark Sarker, works at the nearby fudge packing plant. There's been bad blood between the families ever since Cark killed Little Dicky's dad, Big Dick, by "fisting" him to death, which in the local parlance evidently means "punching real hard." Throw in a mayor with an engineering plan involving dikes and seamen and you've got yourself a full-blown double entendre orgy. A full evening of raunchy wordplay is far too much to swallow, though some of the jokes in the early going of this Annoyance Theatre production (“Get a load of Jiz!”) are awfully funny in their way. --Zac Thompson
