The 30th annual FitzGerald's American Music Festival this Fourth of July weekend (Thu 7/1 through Sun 7/4) features rock, folk, blues, Americana, country, zydeco, funk, and more on three stages at FitzGerald's, 6615 Roosevelt in Berwyn: the main stage and the SideBar in the club, plus a tent outside. Doors open at 4:30 PM on Thursday and Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. Thursday's highlights include funky New Orleans brass outfit Bonerama and zydeco man C.J. Chenier with his Red Hot Louisiana Band in the tent, plus "sacred steel" family band the Lee Boys and Jon Langford's Skull Orchard on the main stage. Friday the Marcia Ball Band, Joe Pug & the Hundred Mile Band, and Wayne "the Train" Hancock, among others, play the tent, and the lineup on the club's main stage includes Jon Dee Graham & the Fighting Cocks and Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers. Saturday's highlights in the tent include Texas troubadour and sometime Flatlander Joe Ely, the Blasters featuring Dave Alvin, and the Nighthawks; the club hosts Willie Nile, Webb Wilder, and more. On Sunday New Orleans showman Trombone Shorty and James Hunter close out the action outside, and in the club the festivities end with folk-rocker Susan Cowsill, self-described "nuclear polka" oddballs Brave Combo, the Waco Brothers, and another set from the Blasters. Several other acts play more than one set as well—especially in the SideBar, where two or three artists (including the Giving Tree Band, the Blue Line Riders, and the Chicago Salty Dogs) alternate throughout each day. Wishbone will sell food all four days, including barbecue, jambalaya, and etouffee. Admission is $30 on Thursday and Friday and $35 on Saturday and Sunday, with a $5 discount the first hour of each day; kids under 12 are $5 and welcome till 9 PM. The only advance tickets are $100 four-day passes, available online through Ticketweb. For more info, call 708-788-2118 or 866-468-3401, or visit fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
