FitzGerald's American Music Festival Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Image

When: July 1-4 2015

The FitzGerald’s American Music Festival is back for its 34th year, and in celebration of the Fourth of July weekend the Berwyn-based party will happily cram 50-plus acts onto three stages—one outside, two inside—over the course of four days. The giant bill features a steady lineup of country, bluegrass, blues, and rock bands, several of them popular club staples. Daily highlights/headliners include roots man Pokey LaFarge and Eric Lindell (Wednesday), Joe Ely Band and retro rock ’n’ roller JD McPherson (Thursday), singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell and Chicago institution Jon Langford and his band the Waco Brothers (Friday), and honky-tonk guitarist Dale Watson and the Honey Island Swamp Band (Saturday). Also throughout the weekend performances by the talented—and touring—kids of the School of Rock will pop up. The festival’s food menu is perfectly reflective of the lineup: andouille sausage po’boys, Cajun shrimp, jambalaya, and a single vegetarian option. Basically, if nonstop roots numbers and a diet of spicy meats are your passions, you’re all set. —Luca Cimarusti
