Flashbulb, Richard Devine, Estesombelo, Bartel, Psymbolic Recommended Soundboard

When: Fri., May 22, 10 p.m. 2009

Atlanta techno heavy Richard Devine hasn’t put out much except the odd remix in the past few years, but in the early aughts dude was repping hard for glitched-out IDM—subtle skittering and crunchy breaks were a good game to be in. He’s long had a second career as a top-flight sound designer, and as his releases have tapered off he’s ramped up that work, even launching his own company late last year; he’s lent his sharp robotic clatter and whoosh to commercials, movies, and video games, built sound patches for Native Instruments’ Absynth application, and compiled an award-winning sample library for Sony Creative Software. Flashbulb headlines; Devine, Estesombelo, Bartel, and Psymbolic open. —Jessica Hopper
