Embarrassing youth cult film, founded on the shaky premise that the staff of a “progressive” LA rock station have to fight their management for the right to play Olivia Newton-John. John Alonzo, an accomplished cinematographer, directed, but he seems to be in way over his head: the film wanders aimlessly and endlessly. Out of a promising cast (Eileen Brennan, Cleavon Little, Cassie Yates), only Martin Mull emerges relatively unscathed. Universal Pictures produced, with such monumental insincerity that it makes one yearn for the days of High School Confidential! PG-13, 104 min.
