Freakers Ball: A Tribute to Shel Silverstein Agenda The Short List (Theater) Recommended

When: Sun., Jan. 15, 8 p.m. 2012

Everybody knows a little of the story of Shel Silverstein: children's book author, songwriter, Playboy cartoonist. The tale gets an especially lustrous treatment tonight at Freakers Ball, a tribute to the late writer that falls on the last day of the Tomorrow Never Knows festival. A crew of local luminaries including Alison Cuddy, Mia Park, Ken Nordine, Mark Bazer, and Cynthia Plaster Caster reads from Silverstein's work; the band providing the evening's musical entertainment is fronted by Jon Langford and features Sally Timms, Robbie Fulks, and special guests. —Sam Worley
