Naughty teens go into the woods for sex and drugs but instead get their coupons clipped by a mute, machete-wielding ogre in a mask. More teens follow and get the same, just not as quickly. You wouldn't think there'd be much juice left in a property as intensively franchised as Friday the 13th (ten sequels and a TV series), but for this remake of the original 1980 shocker, director Marcus Nispel takes a back-to-basics approach and actually manages to breathe new death into the implacable Jason Voorhees. There's even a handful of decent comedy bits, most of them involving Aaron Yoo as a daffy pothead. It accomplishes what it sets out to do, and if slasher fare is your thing, you've seen far worse.
