From Here to Eternity

James Jones's antiwar novel was blandly realized by the usual bunch of Hollywood do-gooders in 1953, and naturally it was Oscars all around: best picture, best screenplay, best photography, best director (the inevitable Fred Zinnemann), best supporting actor (Frank Sinatra—remember that horse's head in The Godfather?), and best supporting actress (Donna Reed). Sominex is cheaper and probably safer.
