Frosty's Shakes & Dogs Closing (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

When: Fridays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 28 2014

Twice a year the Edgewater-based arts-education group Li'l Buds Theatre Company opens its doors to the public for a family-oriented main-stage production. This season, it's a tale of two Frosts: annoyed by the frivolity of Christmas, Jack Frost recruits the help of a naive gingerbread cookie to poison the elves and sentient toys who eat at Frosty the Snowman's North Pole novelty diner. In theory, the production's an opportunity for grade-schoolers to share stage time with professional actors, but Maggie Portman and J. "Preddie" Predmore's infantile script and simple score don't give anyone—students or mentors—much to work with. It's not clear which age group, if any, is supposed to benefit on the house side of the curtain. —Dan Jakes

Price: $18, $12 students and seniors
