Fuddy Meers Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Mondays, Wednesdays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 8 2012

David Lindsay-Abaire's relentlessly quirky 1999 comedy unfolds on a busy day in the life of Claire, a cheerful amnesiac who wakes up each morning with no idea who she is. When Claire is kidnapped by a limping man with a lisp, a facial deformity, and a sidekick who's unduly attached to a potty-mouthed hand puppet, it's up to her tightly wound husband, angry teenage son, and aphasic mother to save her. The performances in this Ka-Tet Theatre Company production are entertaining (especially Kathryn Bartholomew's as indomitable Claire), and James Whittington stages the comic chaos with precision. But the script never deepens or goes anywhere, so you feel as if you're treading water. —Zac Thompson
