Genius Deconstructed costume ball Agenda Recommended

When: Fri., Oct. 21, 6 p.m. 2011

The Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum celebrates the opening of the exhibit Charles James: Genius Deconstructed tonight with a costume ball—its first black-tie ball in more than ten years. It'll feature cocktails, dinner, dancing, and a preview of the exhibit, which explores the life and work of the American couturier (see page 33 for more on the show). A raffle includes items donated by Jimmy Choo, Ferragamo, Alexis Bittar, and Kimberly McDonald—raffle tickets are $100 apiece, but if you can afford to drop a grand for a costume ball ticket in the first place, that's pretty much chump change. —Julia Thiel

Price: $500-$1,000
