Columbia College’s Center for Black Music Research presents Genius Without Borders: A Symposium in Honor of the Genius of Michael Jackson. Talks will include "The Alchemist: Michael Jackson and His Magical Pursuit of White Power" by Burnt Sugar bandleader Greg Tate and "Michael and the Motherland" by ethnomusicologist Stephanie Shonekan, and Reader contributor Jake Austen will moderate the panel "Big Boy: Michael Jackson in Chicago, 1965-1968."
