Ghostbusty: A Ghostbusters Burlesque Recommended Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Saturdays. Continues through Dec. 19 2015

Is there something weird about sticking pasties on a franchise whose next installment—featuring an all-female gang of Ghostbusters—has been heralded in the blogosphere as a win for women in entertainment? I genuinely don't know, but neither I nor a packed opening-night house of buzzed whoopers seemed to give it a second thought. Maybe that's because Gorilla Tango's latest show, like all of its burlesque parodies, puts creative interpretations and kitsch (apparently, you can indeed make a Stay Puft Marshmallow Woman sexy using inflatables) over genuine raunch. Liz Istrata's production sends up Ghostbusters with its own cheesy jokes, but the real humor lies in the cheeky, unironically sexy dance numbers, including a blazing scene between Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver . . . which is something you don't see too often. —Dan Jakes
