Girl on the Bridge

A knife thrower finds a new assistant when he meets a woman about to throw herself into the Seine in this self-parodying Euro-style art film (2000). The deliberately obvious equating of knife throwing with sex would be funnier if it weren't so serious, and the undercut eroticism is part of what makes the movie themeless, merely a conceptual exercise. Patrice Leconte (Monsieur Hire, The Hairdresser's Husband) directed a screenplay by Serge Frydman; with Daniel Auteuil and Vanessa Paradis. 92 min.
