When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Oct. 31 2015
The premise is only middling scary: A young woman betrayed by curiosity. What makes Christina Rossetti’s 1862 poem truly creepy is its lurid imagery, dark implications, and aura of sexual hysteria. All are present in this chamber-opera adaptation presented by Black Button Eyes Productions. Polly Pen’s score is impressively sung. —Tony Adler
