God of Carnage Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Nov. 19 2012

After an 11-year-old boy beats up his classmate, both kids' parents meet to discuss the incident like civilized adults. Pretty soon they're throwing fits and throwing up (one of the wives has an anxious stomach). Yasmina Reza's 80-minute living-room brawl should work well in a small storefront space like the one that houses this AstonRep Theatre Company production. But rather than steadily increase the stakes, Doug Long's staging sputters and stalls, drawing attention to the contrived and schematic aspects of the script. As a liberal do-gooder in a state of perpetual moral outrage, Kelly Lynn Hogan looks like she's spoiling for a good fight—but nobody else in the four-person cast matches her level of pissed-offedness. —Zac Thompson

Price: $20, $15 students/seniors
