A more appropriate subtitle would be The Richard Daley Framing Device: David Elliot's grotesque parody is less concerned with the outgoing mayor than with skewering a bunch of easily skewerable celebrities. Enlisted through the "rich people's Craigslist," Ted Nugent, Oprah, and Bono propose to make Daley's autobiography more engaging by killing Chicagoans. The cheap humor, hammy acting, and attempts at ironic self-awareness are bad enough--more obnoxious is the loathing for Chicago that pervades Elliot's script. His litany ranges from standard-issue complaints about politics and weather to more exotic whinging about CVS pharmacies. If Elliot really wants a home to hate, he can always move to Cleveland. --Keith Griffith
