To the editors:

The Older Women's League, Northside Chicago/North Suburban Chapter, is grateful to Robert McClory and the Reader for the July 22 article "Growing Old With Grace." Extending group health insurance to spouses following death or divorce in a family and preventing spousal impoverishment when a husband or wife needs nursing home care were explained so that more people in these situations will know their rights.

Social action on health care and economic issues will continue and participation means becoming better informed and opportunity to influence legislation.

For information about the Older Women's League or for a copy of "The Status of Older Women in Illinois Today," printed November 1986, write to Junia G. Hedberg, 1249 Cherry, Winnetka, IL 60093 or Grace E. Halperin, 734 Noyes St., Evanston, IL 60201.
