Great River Tug Fest

When: Aug. 12-15 2010

There are events throughout the weekend, but the centerpiece is the Tug itself: a giant two-state game of tug-of-war unfolds as a 680-pound rope is strung across the Mississippi, stopping all river traffic for two hours. The inaugural Tugfest was in 1987; according to the website, the current score is Illinois 13, Iowa 10. Schedule TBA. Main from Walnut to Quarry, Port Byron, IL.
