Green Chair

Park Chul-soo's chronicle of a forbidden love defies easy categorization, but audiences watching the enthusiastic coupling that dominates the movie's first half won't worry much about labels. When 32-year-old divorcee Mun Hee (Suh Jung of The Isle) emerges from serving a sentence for statutory rape, her teenage swain Hyun (South Korean TV idol Shim Ji-ho) braves the paparazzi to whisk her away and pick up where they left off. After several days of marathon sex, Mun Hee panics and flees to stay with her best friend (Oh Yun-hong), only to find that she's an accomplice to Hyun's amorous designs. The tonal shifts mirroring Mun Hee's fragile emotional state lead up to a Felliniesque birthday party that poses a final test for the lovers. In Korean with subtitles. 109 min.
