Guerrilla Television

This valuable historical survey shows how various individuals and collectives have sought to forge an alternative to commercial television by choosing unconventional subjects, as with Ant Farm's provocative restaging of the Kennedy assassination in Dallas in 1975 (The Eternal Frame), or by reporting on the ordinary, as when a boy tells us about the birth of two cows in Videofreex's Greetings From Lanesville: Home of Probably the World's Smallest TV Station (1976). One little detail: the videography is so consistently artless, sometimes verging on the incompetent, that it fails not only to highlight the medium but even to make the subjects interesting. 68 min.
