Selim Sesler with Lamajamal Master clarinetist Selim Sesler was born into a musical family and specializes in the traditional Turkic and Romany music of Thrace and Anatolia—an ancient, romantic sound that sits squarely on the dividing line between West and East. His material includes wedding songs, war songs, dances, ballads, and laments. For this show he'll be backed by Lamajamal, a local band who've lately been tightening the focus of their world-music fusion to specialize in sounds from the Turkic peoples of the Middle East and central Asia. —MK
