Guy Friends

When: Fridays, 12 a.m. Continues through Jan. 30 2009

Now in its second season, Guy Friends is an improvised sitcom set at an AM radio station where four buddies live and work. The show is one long scene, performed in front of the "live studio audience," and there's a laugh track that could be used more opportunely. It starts with a very funny video montage that introduces each character and nails the dorkiness of TV show credit sequences. What follows only occasionally develops into recognizable story arcs, and, since stalling bits can't be cut, the laughs ebb more than they flow. The players are at their best when they go for maximum momentum, yielding absurd dialogue and chaotic action. --Ryan Hubbard
