Halloween movies

Aside from putting razor blades in apples, my favorite Halloween activity has always been seeing a vintage horror feature with a live audience. This year's pickings are rather slim, but the silent relics The Bat Whispers and The Cat and the Canary will both feature live organ accompaniment, and LaSalle Bank Cinema offers a choice Bela Lugosi double feature with a Darwinian theme: Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932) and Island of Lost Souls (1933). See listings for full reviews.
