Hannukatz The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 31 2011

In this musical satire by Terry Abrahamson and Michael Carlson, a gigantic feline clad in tie-dye (T-shirt and yarmulke) crashes the home of a painfully awkward Jewish family in an attempt to teach them the meaning of Hannukah. Whether the awkwardness is intentional is anyone's guess—director Brian LeTraunik and music director Robert Ayres will try anything, including audience participation, rapping, and a reggae song about peeing your pants. The score is the aural equivalent of bologna on white. You know the phrase, "So bad, it's good?" This doesn’t qualify. —Tal Rosenberg

Price: $10-$25, $50 on 12/25 (with "feast") and 12/31 (with party)
