When: Saturdays, 1:15 p.m. Continues through Feb. 27 2010
If you have ten minutes to spare today or tomorrow, please kick the tires on the new user-gen events interface. We'll need to make some copy suggestion for instructions and probably some functionality changes, and all suggestions for making it better are welcome. If you see anything you'd like changed, please reply to me in this thread. Here it is and thanks for your help: http://admin.chicagoreader.com/chicago/Events/AddEvent A few things to note as you're looking at this: * You'll be prompted to login if you aren't logged in already. * If you type in a location name or location address that perfectly matches an existing location, you'll advance to the event form. * If you type in a location that sounds like other locations, you'll be presented with a list of locations to choose from or if the location is truly new you can enter the new location. This is similar to how it works in the Object Editor. * If you type in a location that doesn't match or sound like anything, such as "aslkjdfsjkdhaf", the form will advance to creating a new location since there isn't anything to choose from. * Required fields are in bold on each page. Error messages appear at the top of the page. * On the event page, you'll see a verification of the location, and can then fill in the event data. * Price and Phone are optional and free form. We can add error testing if you want to drive the user to a specific format. If you would like to do this, please let me know the format you want. * URLs are optional and will get validated. The validation essentially confirms that they look like URLs (no spaces, proper structure, etc). * The date & time field is the heart of the form and provides a pop up calendar for the dates, selects for the times, and a pop up frequency for recurring events or ranges. You can also add another date line or delete a date line.
