Head

86 minutes 1968

The Monkees, of unkind memory, star in this dim 1968 imitation of Richard Lester's Beatles films, authored, believe it or not, by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson (Five Easy Pieces) and produced by Bert Schneider (The Last Picture Show). Composed equally of debased 60s psychedelia and cutesy ideas that never quite jell (the Monkees as dandruff in Victor Mature's hair), Head is one skeleton that deserves to remain in the closet. Part of a CIMM Fest Rock 'N' Roll triple feature along with Born to Boogie (see separate listing) and That Was Awesome.
