When: Wed., March 3, 4:40 p.m. 2010
Loyola University Museum of Art and the New Millennium Orchestra present a free public concert, Hungarian National and International Identity: The Music of Béla Bartók and György Ligeti. Members of the NMO and LUMA curatorial staff will give brief presentations, followed by a performance and Q & A session that complements the exhibition, Moholy-Nagy: Education of the Senses Moholy-Nagy, featured in LUMA’s exhibit, Moholy: The Education of the Senses, was a Hungarian artist in origin only. Long associated with the Bauhaus, Moholy-Nagy’s art was concerned with the abstractions of light and space. When we turn to Hungarian composers of the period, however, we find a preoccupation with representing “Hungarian-ness” in music. But who’s Hungary? Please join us for an evening of music, art, and conversation!
