Hell and High Water

A famous physicist discovers a Red Chinese plot to drop an atomic bomb on Korea from a U.S. plane, so he hires mercenary submariner Richard Widmark to block this dire threat to the moral integrity of the Free World. This 1954 feature is one of the less successful efforts by Samuel Fuller, the American master of agitprop, but his skill in constructing a Brechtian mesh of personal and political drama can't be taken lightly, despite the ideological context. 103 min.
