Bollywood's most expensive action film to date, this 2003 feature pairs director Anil Sharma and Hindi action king Sunny Deol, with mixed results. Deol plays a superspy trying to prevent Muslim terrorists from getting a nuclear bomb and forcing India to give up the disputed territory of Kashmir; when he's not outrunning avalanches or spouting poetry, he falls for a chaste shepherdess (Preity Zinta), who disappears after the bad guys bomb their engagement party. Shot in India, Toronto, and Switzerland (a frequent stand-in for Kashmir), this is peppered with catchy tunes by Uttam Singh—including one sung by a jeep load of army officers wielding AK-47s. In English and subtitled Hindi. 160 min.
