Horrible Bosses

Rated R 93 minutes 2011

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis are pals who decide to knock off their miserable bosses, and their conspiracy leads in all sorts of unexpected directions in this crowd-pleasing, occasionally funny farce. Kevin Spacey does his vicious asshole routine as Bateman's corporate supervisor; Jennifer Aniston alternates crude come-on lines and clumsy physical comedy as the dentist who's sexually preying on hygienist Day; and Colin Farrell, with a bald head and comb-over, is the coke-snorting playboy who takes over his father's company and provokes Sudeikis to hatch the triple-murder plot. Screenwriters Michael Markowitz, Jonathan Goldstein, and John Francis Daley (the little brother on Freaks and Geeks) throw in some nice twists along the way, but the story is so packed with over-the-top characters (including a hit man and hustler played by Jamie Foxx) that no one gets a chance to breathe. Seth Gordon (The King of Kong) directed; with brief appearances from Donald Sutherland, Ioan Gruffudd, and Bob Newhart.
