House of the Dead

I haven't played the video game that inspired this zombie horror flick, but German-born director Uwe Boll cuts in numerous full-frontal attack images from it as his actors blow humanoid heads apart on-screen. A handful of pretty partyers miss a boat heading for an island rave, charter their own vessel from a local smuggler, and arrive to find the party deserted and the island crawling with undead predators. There's a nice subplot involving a Spanish sailor who found the island years earlier, Ellie Cornell is good as a border patrol agent pursuing the smuggler, and Clint Howard does his madman routine as the smuggler's first mate. But don't come looking for a story—this is a hunt. 90 min.
